Description : Completely different tack to this little number. When I was told about the vocal I was a bit dubious to say the least, but the rap is used well and doesn’t dominate the track, rather it adds another dimension to the seriously chunky bassline and crazy fx stabs which are scattered (in an orderly fashion) throughout the build up. The breakdown is given over to another monster riff, less fierce than Marischal Street but still pretty full-on and with a touch more melody. It drops into its chopped up and filtered half-sister version which adds an unexpected and welcome surprise to the track. I can see this going down well at pretty much any time of night.

Description : Clocking in at 155 bpm, this track is certainly not for the faint-hearted! Starting off with a monumental kick and rasping percussion you can tell it’s intentions from the get-go, and it builds from there with every element adding more energy as it progresses – from the wicked chunky offbeat bassline and crazy vocal, to the swirling phased synths and little hoover stabs. A time-stretched section in the break leads up to the filthy melodic riff, which if you liked Hip-Hop at all, you will love. You only get 16 bars to appreciate it though before the track slams in with its full force, and romps home taking in a couple of key changes along the way. Full-fire!

Description : Ross has turned out a good few tunes recently with various engineers, and has managed to stamp them all with the Homson Style - and this one is no different. The track has a good dose of Toolbox groove to it, in particular the bassline, while still retaining that familiar power of Tom’s productions. A common trademark of both these producers is their use of vocals, from singy female ones to quirky rap snippets, and Shock The Mouse has a bit of both in, framing the synth work rather nicely. Topping the track off is a beefy riff of the sort that Tom seems to be able to turn out at the drop of the hat – Catchy but hard!

Description : Tom’s remix of the track takes all the elements of the original, tweaks them a touch and makes them that little bit harder… from the kick, to the bassline, to the riff, everything is slightly tuned towards those late night sets. There’s a couple of cheeky additions to the remix – an extra ‘I just cant get enough’ vocal and the odd hoover or three, and he has also done away with the key change, resulting in a beefy and chunky monster which is sure to cause some dancefloor carnage. It’s the perfect accompaniment to the original, one for early on, one for late!

Description : As mentioned this track is a bit different to some of his hard house productions of late, which have mostly been of the straight up variety. This however is not. Using a rolling bassline, and building synth elements rather than stabs, it’s got a very different feel. It’s all about the riff though really - a really unique, melodic hard house riff which harks back to the ‘good old days’ when tracks were allowed to be a bit euphoric in places and leave you with a smile on your face. The smile can only be helped by the cheeky little hoover riff which appears after the end of the main lead!!

Description : This track has been a favourite of mine since Tom finished it, and has been getting plays from Marc Johnson, Karim, Ben Stevens, Adam M, Lucy Fur and everyone else who has been lucky enough to have a copy. It has one of the most brutal offbeat basslines ever – I’m surprised it doesn’t make people sick haha. It’s packed full of key changes and a massive speaker-busting riff that gets a huge reaction no matter what the night and what the music policy – despite the fact it’s really quite hard it still has an element of fun about it that appeals to everyone. More like this please!

Description : For me this is the track that proves Tom is one of the best producers in the country right now. It has such a clean sound, from the galloping bassine and the punchy kick, to the quirky and filthy riff, the hoover stabs and the vocal snippets. Everything fits together just right, combining to give the track a huge amount of power with a very simple structure. Again the track has that element of fun about it which seems to get to everyone jumping around, while still being hard enough to be played anywhere.

Description : FlashPoint don Marc was asked to do this remix a little while back and it has been a big part of his sets ever since. Engineered by Dom Sweeten, this is classic Marc Johnson material – the two of them work so well together, with Marc producing his best ever work at Dom’s in recent times. His remix has all the Johnson trademarks – massive bassline (although there is a bit of groove to this one!), hugely complex synths and stabs in the build up, huge dirty riff, and the odd hoover stab all combining with the vocal to make one hell of a hard track.
